a word from |themme| to you:

Ever since I released malicious joy, I’ve been chasing that feeling of releasing another piece of music that has made me feel the way I felt when is released that album. And for almost a year I struggled, trying to find anything that worked or felt the same. There were several times where I considered quitting producing music entirely, and many nights where I would sit in front my Laptop frustrated, knowing that no matter how much I tried to create something, nothing was being made.
During this time, I stumbled upon a random SoundCloud page of someone named asoookha. I remember listening to his music for the first time and wondering why this dude only had like 20 followers, I instantly dm’d him and asked him to join my server so we can talk and work on music. I was really excited to have someone with that much talent joining my little server I had. Over the next couple of months we would talk off and on about music and our different workflows, it was only until later on in the year that I found Alexander O’Neal’s “if you were here tonight” and I knew instantly that something special could be made with this. I sent it to him and the first song we produced was “love you more” and we discussed doing a collab album together.
This was at an all time low for productivity for me, I was throwing out 70 percent of my project files and anything that came though didn’t really have substance, it wasn’t what I was looking for. I remember looking at how hard asoookha was working and the vast amount of music he was creating and time and time again, he provided inspiration and guidance at times when I was struggling creatively. Slowly, but surely over the next couple of months we assembled a list of tracks. While I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the music I was making at the time, I made a promise to him that I would force myself to make music and to never delete a project file until this project was done.
It was only until the project was finally finished that I fully understood what went into it and the amount of emotional depth it had. Songs that seemed like nothing before, fit into each other perfectly like puzzle pieces and entire creative premises and concepts started making sense. It was at that point, that I felt that feeling I felt when I worked on malicious joy. A sense of cohesion and happiness/satisfaction.

To anyone that listens to my music or supports me in any way, thank you.

Thank you asoookha, for being a great friend, and for helping create a wonderful piece of music that I can fondly look back at and be proud of.

While sometimes I struggle to make music, knowing that there are people out there that listen and love what I do will always make it worth it.
